Lake Shore Center for the Arts Annual Meeting
Thursday, October 15, 2020, 7:00 p.m.

Present: All directors but Angel Busch and Susan Poster;
resignations of Jodie Wilmarth and Judy Einach announced. Also present: Jackie Phillips, Innovation Studio Director, Karin Cockram, Gallery Director as well as members Lynda Barber*, Peter Faust, Carl Hamann,
John Hemmer, Peter Brand, David Hunter* and visitor Aggie Thompson.
Call to order: 7:05 p.m. by Rick Mathews, president
Welcome: Mathews recognized our two new members*. He then shared his enthusiasm for the room conversions which have taken place and hopes for future productions. Further, he shared his optimism that our occupancy of the center will continue as Mary Lee Talbott, Presbytery representative, guides the congregation in deciding
their future.
Secretary’s minutes: Received as read for filing. Current
membership report at close of 2020 season: 49 Family = 98; 32 Adult; 1 Business=2; Students = 2; Total = 134.
Treasurer’s report: Kelly reported that since September 1, 2019, HARVEST MOON, the cemetery tours, Ekstasis recitals and AFTER ALL THESE YEARS brought in proceeds of $3,064. Since February, we have not generated income due to our pandemic closure.
With work continuing on the Innovation Studio and the Lorna Penny Suite, of the combined $30,000, $15,000 for each, $8,964 remains. In our general fund, we currently have $7,738.54. In January 2021,$4,000 will be paid to the church for rent. Our insurance coverage
costs about $500 annually. A total of $3,806.94 was brought in by membership replies. The report was accepted for audit.
Retrospective: Executive Director Rick Mascaro energetically reviewed our activities since the last annual meeting. He opened his comments by relating how proud we should be that our village has a first class arts center in its midst, one which can stand proudly next to any other he has been a part of or seen in his experience. A copy of
his overview accompanies these minutes.
Elections: The secretary nominated Sue Poster for another term on the board, taking her tenure through 2023. Additionally, she asked for approval of the four officers and the executive director in their roles for
another year. With a second to the motion from Marilyn Hemmer, thenominations were accepted unanimously.
Gallery Review: Director Karin Cockram, was praised and
thanked throughout the meeting for “keeping us out there” on Facebook during the closure. She commented on the successes of the two earlier gallery shows of the work of Gabrielle Knappenberger and Jude Merchant. A full report on the gallery is attached.
Innovation Studio: Director Jackie Phillips accompanied her comments with a visual presentation which also will be presented to the Northern Chautauqua County Foundation to show them how their grant has been utilized. She thanked Exec. Dir. Mascaro for his leadership and support in the venture, then acquainted members with the many possibilities the studio will offer to participants. Light it/Shootit/Retouch it. Let’s create! succinctly states its direction.
Lorna B. Penny Suite: Joan shared some anecdotes illustrative of Miss Penny’s generosity to LSCFTA and of the gift from three of her nephews making the suite possible. She invited members to cross the hall after the meeting to view the progress on and beauty of the room.
Adjournment: With no new business from the floor, a motion from
Peter Brand with a second from Barb Johnson = 8:15 p.m.
