Six-week Memoir Writing and One-Act Play Workshop

Every Wednesday, Starting June 1st, from 7 to 8:30 PM
Location: Lorna Penny Suite, Lake Shore Center for the Arts
Memoirs are personal stories we want to share with others, and perhaps leave as a legacy to our friends and family. If you have a story to tell, and who doesn’t, this workshop will help you understand what defines a memoir and how to write your book.  We will learn brainstorming techniques, how to develop your first draft, revision processes, and how to enhance your story using specific details and senses.
This workshop is for beginners and those already working on a project. The instructor will tailor the sessions to the specific needs of participants.
Mary Ellen will also work with participants that are interested in creating a one-act for the LSCFTA upcoming Juice Box One Act Play Festival (more on this exciting endeavor coming soon).
The last class will focus on how to actually produce your book once it’s completed.
Instructor Bio:  Mary Ellen Humphrey, M.Ed. has been writing and teaching workshops for many years.  Her goal is to help you make the book in your heart a reality. She has published more than a dozen books in a variety of genres, including memoir, speculative fiction, mainstream novels, and nonfiction.
