Becky’s New Car Matinee
Steven Dietz Becky’s New Car is as much a screwball comedy as it is a disarmingly thoughtful drama about love, fidelity, and second chances.
Becky Foster is caught in middle age, middle management, and in a middling marriage – with no prospects for change on the horizon. Then one night a socially inept and grief-stricken millionaire stumbles into the car dealership where Becky works. Becky is offered nothing short of a new life…and the audience is offered a chance to ride shotgun.
Becky’s New Car was commissioned and originally produced by ACT Theater in Seattle Washington and was part of the New Works for American Theatre in honor of Benita Staadecker, Kurt Beattie, Artistic Director; Susan Trapnell, Managing Director. Produced in Co-operation with Dramatist Play Service.
